Let me tell you a story.....

......about my great, great grandpa, Thaddeus Deitz.  They called him the shepard of the hills, the last of the circuit-riding preachers.  He walked a loop of 120 miles through the Carolina mountains, goin' from revival to revival. He'd stand in the shadows while the other preachers made sure they were heard, but someone always nudged him up and my could that man throw down the Word! He weren't so big in size or stature, but he filled up the space. He had a lot of stories, ideas, opinions and he scattered that seed all over the place!

Nowadays he talks to me, i hear him chuckling in my dreams, He says "Girl, keep on spinnin' your tales, but the word ain't always what it seems. You got to quit your fantasizin', get on them walkin' shoes, ramble on down to the center of town, climb up on a rickety oracle stool and show them folks how you throw down the Word!  of God!  and Goddess!  Together! Rock your microphone so hard! You gotta sing her curving, luscious, liquid language, subtle supple hum!  Dance until you sweat her tears!  Get down with her sacred drum!"

I say "Gramps, i've been hangin' out with my shadows, waitin' for my time, but they say the Goddess is alive, Christ-consciousness aligned, and i'm feelin' something coming over me, feeling in my prime, so i sing this song for you and me today, Let' pray! I sing this song for all of us today, let's get on our feet and dance and praise this holy day!"     ~Grace Tea
